What are Taiwan's famous hot spots?

Country: Taiwan

There are things to do all over the island, so it really depends on what you're looking for.
Outdoor activities can be done almost anywhere, but the Kenting area and Green Island are probably the most enjoyable places to visit if you enjoy getting outside.
There are are also countless areas to go mountain climbing all over Taiwan.
If you enjoy nightlife, Taipei is great, but other cities have things to do at night, too.
If you could be clearer what you're looking for, I'd be happy to give you more info.

It all depends on what you want to do, and which part of Taiwan you want to go to. What excites you the most, what do you want to see? Are you interested more in nature? Cities? Culture? Museums? Night life?

If I may humbly suggest a more focussed question I am sure that the people here on this forum will be able to answer it to your complete satisfaction.
I live in the south of Taiwan, and although many would tell you that the 'most famous spots' are in the Taipei area, it really depends on what you are looking for. If you are an urban uptown type you would definately have to check out Taipei for museums, art galleries, a zoo, exhibitions, tall buildings and temples devoted to capitalism and money. All of this juxtaposed against certain green parks, forested areas, hill walks and the like. If you are looking for an all out outdoor experience and the weather and skies are clear and you are pining for some scenery, your best bet would be to hit the somewhat official crown jewel of this island. Near Chayi county is the town of Alishan, Jade mountain sunrise viewing lot and Jade mountain itself. You may want to check it out. Have fun!
* Scuba diving and snorkeling: Kenting or Green Island
* Hot spring: Green Island, Hua-LienTaitung, Miao-Li, Gu-Gwan(Taichung county)
* Cold spring: Ilan, Ping-Dong(Se-Chong-Si)
* Hiking: Jade Mt.,Da-Shei-San(Grand Snowy Mt.), Alisan, Chin-Jing Farm
* Cycling: There are different cycling paths around the island
Have fun!
